Virgin Trains: Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston Weekend First Class Service VT7757

It has been a very long time since I travelled at the weekend with Virgin Trains First Class. As far as I can remember, the service had no alcohol but it did have water, juices, coffee, tea and soft drinks. Surprise – there are no more juices and soft drinks.

VT7757 is the departure from Manchester Piccadilly at 1355 and arrives in London Euston at approximately 1606.

The new First Class Weekend service consists of only two rounds of coffee and tea. Wi-Fi was patchy and barely worked apart from loading the login page. The afternoon tea consisted of a weird tasting sandwich and a rock hard scone. The only saving grace was the clotted cream and pretzels. That is it.

I tweeted them and they confirmed that the offer of soft drinks and juices were removed for about a year or just over a year – it has been that long since I travelled! In the world of cost-cutting, this is hardly a surprise but it is still disappointing to experience it first hand.
